Which 2019 GMC Canyon Engine Is Right for You?

The 2019 GMC Canyon is a premium midsize pickup truck that’s known for its three potent and efficient engines. Here’s a quick overview of each one so you can find which 2019 GMC Canyon engine suits best suits your lifestyle.

2.5-liter four-cylinder engine

The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission. It enables the Canyon to tow up to 3,500 pounds and creates quite a bit of power for a base engine — 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. You can also opt for a manual transmission if you want direct control over the engine’s power.

3.6-liter V6 engine

If you’re craving pure power, the 3.6-liter V6 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission delivers. In total, it serves up 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque and tows an impressive weight of 7,000 pounds.

Duramax® 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine

The 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine boasts a number of best-in-class ratings such as an amazing 369 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity reaching up to 7,700 pounds. The last best-in-class quality arrives in efficiency, with a highway fuel economy of 30 mpg.* It doesn’t stop with multiple segment-leading stats, as it also introduces the segment-first exhaust brake that slows the truck using engine compression.

These amazing engine options let you customize the 2019 GMC Canyon to suit your needs from an everyday commute to towing power for tough jobs. If you’d like to learn more about the Canyon’s engines or try them out yourself, visit us at Transwest GMC to schedule a test drive.

GMC is revamping the next-generation Sierra lineup and has added a new double-cab model — the 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation. Combining a bold design, top-notch capabilities, and innovative technologies, this new pickup truck is sure to bring the brand to new heights.

“The 2019 Sierra Elevation conveys a youthful, athletic presence that demonstrates GMC’s tailored approach,” said Rich Latek, GMC marketing director. “With inherent truck capabilities and functionality, Elevation is able to take you off the beaten path along with your gear while standing out from the pack.”

Based on the Sierra double-cab model, the Sierra Elevation comes with either two- or four-wheel-drive configurations. This set up will add three inches of additional rear legroom and best-in-class front seat head- and legroom.

In addition to these changes, the Elevation helps give you more confidence out on the road thanks to the Traction Selection System, which allows you to choose from preset modes depending on weather conditions. It also comes with an available X31 Off Road package, which prepares your Sierra for tough terrain.

This pickup comes standard with a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the truck to output up to 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. A 5.3-liter V8 is also available and, in early 2019, the truck will also have a new 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel engine option.

The 2019 Sierra Elevation is set to arrive in dealerships in the fall of 2018. For more details on this new truck, visit or contact our expert team at Transwest GMC.
