Explore the Outdoors: Off-Road Destinations in Colorado

Hop in your new Yukon or Terrain from Transwest Buick GMC and explore the outdoors. Buick and GMC SUVs are great for adventurers with active lifestyles, as these models come with roomy interiors, powerful engines, and impressive capabilities. You can find a range of outdoor areas in the region, from the Rocky Mountain National Park to Mesa Verde.

According to the Outdoor Project, one of the top places to visit around here is Rocky Mountain National Park. This park has it all: crystal clear lakes (like Chasm, Nymph, Dream, and Emerald) and the Wild basin area for instance. The CCY route is great for experienced climbers, and you can stay at Lulu City or Stanley Hotel for the night.

Mesa Verde is like something out of a dream. This national park is home to the cliffside dwellings of indigenous peoples, with highlights being Cliff Palace, the Chapin Mesa, and Long House. You can see great views and learn about the ancestral home of the Pueblo people.

Be sure to visit Telluride. This location is at the end of a box canyon, which makes it truly unique. There are local trails, like the Jud Wiebe Trail and the Last Dollar Road, as well as daytime activities such as Sneffels Highline.

Other great off-road destinations in Colorado include the Great Sand Dunes National Park, Salida, Gunnison National Park, Silverton, Maroon Bells, Grand Junction, and Garden of the Gods.

Rumors of the 2021 GMC Terrain Refresh

2021 GMC Terrain Refresh | Henderson, CO

General Motors has been updating its crossover and SUV models recently. Earlier this year, Motor Authority spied the updated 2020 Chevy Equinox in camouflaged form. Now, the automaker is in the process of refreshing the GMC Terrain for the 2021 model year.

Autoblog recently witnessed a camouflaged 2021 Terrain at the brand’s Milford Proving Grounds. Though we don’t know all of the details about this model’s mid-cycle refresh, the spy shots reveal some information about its features.

Because the Terrain recently received a full redesign back in 2018, the mid-cycle updates should be subtle ones. According to Autoblog spy shots, the 2021 Terrain seems to have a floating roof design and the same midsection as the current model. It’s expected that the updated Terrain will sport a new fascia. Per Autoblog, it’s likely that the model will borrow the grille and headlight design from either its sibling, the Acadia, or its distant cousin, the GMC Sierra pickup.

If the 2021 GMC Terrain refresh does boast interior modifications, there should be only a couple of minor tweaks. For instance, the automaker might switch out the current model’s awkward push-button shifter on the dash for one with a more intuitive design.

Contact us at Transwest Buick GMC to test-drive the current 2019 Terrain models we have in stock while you wait for the release of the 2021 refresh.

Buick Teases New Crossover

The designers at Buick are moving into new territory on future crossovers and sedans.

“This is a really important time for Buick,” says Executive Design Director Helen Emsley. “For a while we’ve been trying to reinvent Buick and find out what it is. This is a perfect time for us to sit back and say, ok, what is the right thing to do for Buick? Let’s make sure we do it correctly.”

Recently, members of cardesignnews.com received invitations for a rare visit to the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. There, they got a glimpse of new concepts for the brand, including the mysteriously named “Orange Car.” Cardesignnews.com described the Orange Car as having “bold, aggressive inspiration” and said it would “shock and surprise many, both inside and outside the industry.” At the same time, the designers at Buick have included bits of Buick history into the new models to honor design cues of the past.

There isn’t much else known about the new models, but General Motors did make a sizeable $36 million investment in its Lansing assembly plant, suggesting the concepts could be made in the States.

Although 80 percent of the brand’s sales come from China, Buick is determined to continue producing quality vehicles for the United States. See some of Buick’s current production models at Transwest Buick GMC.

GMC Electric Pickup Truck Could be in the Works

When you think of a pickup truck, it’s likely you don’t think of an eco-friendly vehicle. Typically, these workhorses are known for their relatively gas-guzzling nature. That’s about to change, though, as more carmakers are looking to introduce all-electric pickup trucks – and GMC might just be one of them.

According to MotorTrend magazine, Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC, hinted at the possibility of a GMC electric pickup truck earlier this year. “Certainly, it’s something we’re considering,” he said in an interview with the Detroit Bureau.

While this model is purely rumor right now, it’s possible that it will come when all vehicles on the road become electric, though many think that this electrified pickup truck will come sooner.

Currently, General Motors is working on a new electric architecture that is expected to make its debut by 2021. While GM has geared Cadillac to be the brand that first sits on this new platform, it’s possible that an electric pickup truck will be one of the 20 new all-electric vehicles the brand intends to introduce by 2023.

GMC would be joining the likes of Tesla and Rivian in its plans for an electric pickup truck. It would also go head-to-head with Ford, who recently said it plans on creating an electric version of the F-150 at some point.

We don’t have an electric truck on the lot, but if you’re looking for a work vehicle for today, contact us at Transwest Buick GMC.

New GMC Sierra Ad Shows Off MultiPro Tailgate

The big innovation for the new GMC Sierra 1500 is the MultiPro™ tailgate, which has six unique configurations that enable easier loading and unloading in the cargo bed and makes accessing the cargo bed yourself much easier. The six functions of the new MultiPro tailgate are Primary Gate, Primary Gate Load Stop, Easy Access, Full-Width Step, Inner Gate Load Stop, and Inner Gate with Work Surface.

This, of course, isn’t the only change for 2019, which ushers in a new generation; GMC also debuted new Dynamic Fuel Management technology on the Sierra.

To drum up excitement about the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 and the MultiPro tailgate specifically, the automaker released a new ad called “Anthem,” which aired earlier this year during several important NFL games.

It’s a strange ad, but it’s doing quite well with audiences. In the ad, a driver takes his new GMC Sierra to a hilltop as a sort of beacon to truck drivers everywhere. And those truck drivers answer the call. The ad shows us drivers of trucks like the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 ripping the tailgates off their trucks and walking together toward the hill with the Sierra, all while singing “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam.

2020 GMC Sierra HD Gets More Tech Features

The 2020 GMC Sierra HD is ready to take on the heavy-duty pickup truck segment — and it’s doing so with a brand-new, tech-loaded model that’s ready to head off-road.

For the 2020 model year, the 2020 Sierra HD will come with an integrated trailer-brake controller, along with an available exterior camera system that can display up to 15 different views on the truck’s infotainment system. This includes an image that can “see through” your trailer, using the tailgate camera and a camera mounted on the trailer’s rear to help you see behind you as you’re towing.

Along with this new technology, the 2020 Sierra HD will also offer a new off-road model, called the AT4. This model will use Rancho shock absorbers, skid plates, and a locking rear differential to conquer uncharted terrain. It will also have a dedicated driving mode and 18-inch Michelin all-terrain tires to help make it more appealing to those who crave off-road adventures. This model will even come with dark-chrome exterior accents, a black-chrome grille, and red tow hooks to give it a unique exterior style.

The 2020 Sierra HD will be ready to go on sale by the end of 2019. There’s no word yet on the heavy-duty truck’s pricing, but we can guess that its starting MSRP will be around the $35,000 mark.

While the 2020 GMC Sierra HD isn’t on dealership lots yet, you can check out the rest of the spectacular GMC lineup at Transwest GMC.

The 2019 GMC Canyon is a premium midsize pickup truck that’s known for its three potent and efficient engines. Here’s a quick overview of each one so you can find which 2019 GMC Canyon engine suits best suits your lifestyle.

2.5-liter four-cylinder engine

The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission. It enables the Canyon to tow up to 3,500 pounds and creates quite a bit of power for a base engine — 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. You can also opt for a manual transmission if you want direct control over the engine’s power.

3.6-liter V6 engine

If you’re craving pure power, the 3.6-liter V6 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission delivers. In total, it serves up 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque and tows an impressive weight of 7,000 pounds.

Duramax® 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine

The 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine boasts a number of best-in-class ratings such as an amazing 369 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity reaching up to 7,700 pounds. The last best-in-class quality arrives in efficiency, with a highway fuel economy of 30 mpg.* It doesn’t stop with multiple segment-leading stats, as it also introduces the segment-first exhaust brake that slows the truck using engine compression.

These amazing engine options let you customize the 2019 GMC Canyon to suit your needs from an everyday commute to towing power for tough jobs. If you’d like to learn more about the Canyon’s engines or try them out yourself, visit us at Transwest GMC to schedule a test drive.
