Engineers have gotten good at maximizing power from small engines. Many four-cylinder engines available today are more powerful than larger engines that were available decades ago. Now, we have learned that General Motors is adding two new three-cylinder engines to its lineup.
The last time GM offered a three-cylinder engine was on the 2000 Chevrolet Metro. This was a 1.0-liter engine with only 55 horsepower. The modern versions will be much better than that and will come in 1.2- and 1.3-liter displacements with attached turbochargers. The 1.3-liter engine delivers 155 horsepower, while the 1.2-liter option is expected to have an output near 137 horsepower.
Along with their impressive power ratings, these engines should be more efficient. When compared to a larger four-cylinder engine, these engines weigh about 40 pounds less. The weight savings combined with more efficient engine technology should help save fuel. GM has yet to release fuel efficiency ratings, but we expect them to be better than the EPA-estimated 27 mpg combined with the 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine on the current 2020 Buick Encore.
Both of these engine options will be available in the new Buick Encore GX and the Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Buick Encore GX will go on sale here at Transwest Buick GMC by the end of March.
Christmas is here and nothing gets you in the spirit more than going to see the lights. Check out these fun lights displays around Denver this winter.
The Mile High Tree
Head to Sculpture Park at the Denver Performing Arts Complex and see the largest installation of its kind in all of North America. One of the newest holiday traditions in Denver, the 110-foot-tall, 39-foot-diameter tree puts on a spectacular display with music every 30 minutes. Over a hundred people can even experience the display from within the cone of the tree itself. It’s so big you don’t even have to leave the car to see it from the street.
Christmas in Color
Come travel through one of the most dazzling displays of the season at Water World in Federal Heights. Christmas in Color has more than 1.5 million LED lights stretched into tunnels, trees, and holiday shapes with synchronized music for a full experience. It was so popular last year that they’ve opened a second location at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison.
Old Golden Christmas
The small town charm of Golden gets a visit from Christmas Past. The historic main street gets a healthy dose of lights displayed all season long with a holiday art market, live theater performances, a candlelight walk, and even a visit from Santa himself.
Although not a drive-through, you don’t want to miss the 29th annual lights extravaganza at the Denver Zoo. With over 2 million lights across 80 acres, it’s like walking into a fantasy world. Jump on the Denver Zoo Railroad and sing carols as you cruise through the display. You can watch artisan ice carvers create sculptures and peruse the holiday shopping bazaar to find one-of-a-kind gifts.

At the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, Buick unveiled a bold new concept called the Enspire. We have learned that this concept is making its ways towards being a production model. We have also learned that, unlike the concept, which had an electric powertrain, the upcoming Buick Enspire may be powered by a four-cylinder engine.
According to GM Authority and its sources, the Enspire will use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The sources said that this combination would deliver 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Enspire will also come standard with front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive will be available.
This powertrain combination is the same one used on the Cadillac XT4, the Enspire’s corporate cousin. This engine should give the Enspire a 0-60 mph time around 7.7 seconds.
It is unclear as to whether the Enspire will eventually offer a hybrid or electric powertrain option. If it does, it will likely not appear for a few more years.
The Enspire will fit in the Buick lineup between the Envision and the Enclave. It will offer buyers more premium materials and features than the Envision. GM Sources indicate that the Enspire will make its official debut in 2020 as a 2021 model.

Buick has been ahead of the curve when it comes to predicting what customers want out of their cars. Back in 2013 — before the wave of smaller premium vehicles captured the country — Buick released the Encore. The SUV proved to be a pioneer of the crossover market, and the history of the Buick Encore proves Buick knows what people want.
Before crossover SUVs became a widely desirable option for families, larger SUVs had control of the market. The 2013 Buick Encore debuted at just 168.5 inches long, which was 33 inches shorter than the Buick Enclave.
Buick knew that busy families largely needed efficient vehicles that would keep them away from the pump. The 2013 Encore achieved 28 mpg combined through its turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, which produced 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque.* The engine was paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and the option between all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.
Modern crossover SUVs should be equipped with smart infotainment and safety technology. The 2014 Encore became one of the first vehicles to come equipped with Apple Siri integration. Bose speakers provided crystal-clear sound in a cabin which was kept quiet through Buick QuietTuning development and Bose’s Active Noise Cancellation Technology.
Still a leader in value, appeal, and technology, the latest Buick Encore is available at Transwest Buick GMC.
With room for the whole crew, sophisticated styling, and premium features, the Buick Enclave is an excellent choice for any family. Updates for the 2020 Enclave will make it even more desirable with new technology, bold styling, and enhanced comfort.
All Enclave models will come with a new 8-inch touch-screen display that features that latest Buick infotainment system. This system will be capable of supporting SiriusXM with 360L that offers both satellite and streaming content. The Enclave is also available with an HD Surround Vision system and a new HD Rear Vision Camera.
If you are looking for a styling option that stands out from the crowd, choose the new Sport Touring package. This gives the Enclave a monochromatic look with a Sport grille and body-color surround. Twenty-inch machined aluminum wheels complete the look.
To help make you even more comfortable while driving the Enclave, the Premium and Avenir models will now come standard with power seats that include four-way power lumbar seat adjustments and a massage feature.
Phil Brook, vice president of Buick and GMC marketing, said, “For the 2020 model year, we’re upping the comfort with available massaging seats, bringing in a new and different look for customers with Sport Touring and enhancing our in-vehicle technology to provide more of what these customers want.”
We look forward to getting the 2020 Buick Enclave in our inventory at Transwest Buick GMC.

General Motors has been updating its crossover and SUV
models recently. Earlier this year, Motor Authority spied the updated 2020
Chevy Equinox in camouflaged form. Now, the automaker is in the process of
refreshing the GMC Terrain for the 2021 model year.
Autoblog recently witnessed a camouflaged 2021 Terrain at
the brand’s Milford Proving Grounds. Though we don’t know all of the details
about this model’s mid-cycle refresh, the spy shots reveal some information
about its features.
Because the Terrain recently received a full redesign back
in 2018, the mid-cycle updates should be subtle ones. According to Autoblog spy
shots, the 2021 Terrain seems to have a floating roof design and the same
midsection as the current model. It’s expected that the updated Terrain will
sport a new fascia. Per Autoblog, it’s likely that the model will borrow the
grille and headlight design from either its sibling, the Acadia, or its distant
cousin, the GMC Sierra pickup.
If the 2021 GMC Terrain refresh does boast interior
modifications, there should be only a couple of minor tweaks. For instance, the
automaker might switch out the current model’s awkward push-button shifter on
the dash for one with a more intuitive design.

The designers at Buick are moving into new territory on
future crossovers and sedans.
“This is a really important time for Buick,” says Executive
Design Director Helen Emsley. “For a while we’ve been trying to reinvent Buick
and find out what it is. This is a perfect time for us to sit back and say, ok,
what is the right thing to do for Buick? Let’s make sure we do it correctly.”
Recently, members of cardesignnews.com received invitations for a rare visit to the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. There, they got a glimpse of new concepts for the brand, including the mysteriously named “Orange Car.” Cardesignnews.com described the Orange Car as having “bold, aggressive inspiration” and said it would “shock and surprise many, both inside and outside the industry.” At the same time, the designers at Buick have included bits of Buick history into the new models to honor design cues of the past.
There isn’t much else known about the new models, but General
Motors did make a sizeable $36 million investment in its Lansing assembly
plant, suggesting the concepts could be made in the States.
When you think of a pickup truck, it’s likely you don’t think of an eco-friendly vehicle. Typically, these workhorses are known for their relatively gas-guzzling nature. That’s about to change, though, as more carmakers are looking to introduce all-electric pickup trucks – and GMC might just be one of them.
According to MotorTrend magazine, Duncan Aldred, vice
president of GMC, hinted at the possibility of a GMC electric pickup truck
earlier this year. “Certainly, it’s something we’re considering,” he said in an
interview with the Detroit Bureau.
While this model is purely rumor right now, it’s possible
that it will come when all vehicles on the road become electric, though many
think that this electrified pickup truck will come sooner.
Currently, General Motors is working on a new electric
architecture that is expected to make its debut by 2021. While GM has geared
Cadillac to be the brand that first sits on this new platform, it’s possible
that an electric pickup truck will be one of the 20 new all-electric vehicles
the brand intends to introduce by 2023.
GMC would be joining the likes of Tesla and Rivian in its
plans for an electric pickup truck. It would also go head-to-head with Ford,
who recently said it plans on creating an electric version of the F-150 at some
We don’t have an electric truck on the lot, but if you’re looking for a work vehicle for today, contact us at Transwest Buick GMC.
The big innovation for the new GMC Sierra 1500 is the MultiPro™ tailgate, which has six unique configurations that enable easier loading and unloading in the cargo bed and makes accessing the cargo bed yourself much easier. The six functions of the new MultiPro tailgate are Primary Gate, Primary Gate Load Stop, Easy Access, Full-Width Step, Inner Gate Load Stop, and Inner Gate with Work Surface.
This, of course, isn’t the only change for 2019, which
ushers in a new generation; GMC also debuted new Dynamic Fuel Management
technology on the Sierra.
To drum up excitement about the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 and the
MultiPro tailgate specifically, the automaker released a new ad called “Anthem,”
which aired earlier this year during several important NFL games.
It’s a strange ad, but it’s doing quite well with audiences.
In the ad, a driver takes his new GMC Sierra to a hilltop as a sort of beacon
to truck drivers everywhere. And those truck drivers answer the call. The ad
shows us drivers of trucks like the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 ripping the
tailgates off their trucks and walking together toward the hill with the
Sierra, all while singing “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam.
